PJ,

Nice welds and great idea for chains.

What do you use to weld AL? My guess is MIG with AL wire gun.

"I" do not use anyting to weld aluminum /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I have a buddy at work who uses a TIG welder for AL and does a very fine job. I am attempting to get my lovely wife (in case she reads this) to get me a welder for Christmas. Until then I ask favors.

PJ,

Sweet! First class match in paint and style, too.

How about a lid? /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Seriously, a nice job.

Not a bad paint match considering it is painted Dupi-Color Chevy Engine Orange! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Nice job! It almost looks like a factory option.

I agree. It looks like it belongs there.

Not only is that a nice chain box but you never need worry about rust with the aluminum.

Very nice job. Much like another TBNer did on his tractor, putting it in the same place. I thought then what a great idea, and it still is. John

" thought then what a great idea, and it still is. "

I agree. It would be good for a toolbox, too.

Thatsa one of the best and simplistic Idea's I have seen in a long time.

Slick... how many feet of chain do you think you can drop in there?

There is approx 30 feet of chain in it right now. With the room that is remaining I am guessing that there is room for at least another 15 to 20 feet.

you can get aluminum welding electrodes from LOWES or a welding supply house for use with stick welders ac/dc. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Super idea, and so simple. I usually have a chain on my floormat of the tc45 but I trip over it and it usually ends up under my feet. Now... if we can get a combination chain - shovel storage unit diagram I would fire up the wire feed. It seems you always are walking back to the shop for a shovel and or chain. They have those machines so compact it is hard to find an open spot to mount the essentials without creating a hazzard.

Here is a link to my earlier post.

Early post of chain box

About two years before I had the loader I had drilled the hole in two of these to fit the clutch housing holes where the loader bolts to. At that time I had one box on each side of the tractor.

The current setup is much more handy.

Here is the current setup. Soon I hope to have a chainsaw scabbard to mount on the RH side of the loader frame.
