Re: Chain Gurus--\"Transport\" chain useage?

Hi,

Just a fine point...

A grade 80 or better chain being certified for overhead lifting does not [to the best of my knowledge] mean that it is designed to hang loads over people. I guess this is years[decades /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif] of working in the steel industry speaking here, but we never intentionally carried anything over the heads of workers with our overhead cranes. And our lifting devices and cranes passed regular strict safety inspections...

It is a good practice NEVER to walk under a load hanging from a chain, cable or whatever...regardless of the grade.

Even the best grades of chain have broken one time or other. Best not to be under the load when that happens...usually won't happen...but if it does...bingo...was nice knowing ya' /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
