Just bought a new 13' (I know... a rather odd size), chain harrow manufactured by Tarzan in LA. After a little struggle getting it unrolled, I chained it up behind my 8' disk, and went to work. WOW what a great implement. Many I have seen are rather light and don't do much other than bounce around on top of the dirt, but this one really digs in. I do not know the weight of these per foot, but I know that mine is HEAVY. Just to give you an idea, it is made of 5/8" spring steel rod. The biggest problem is in order to remove the debris from it, I currently have been picking it up in the air with the loader bucket, and then removing all of the sticks, logs, t-posts, brush, barb-wire, etc. that collects on the thing.

Anyone have any better ideas on how to get this junk off the harrow? My current method works, but is pretty slow going.

Here is a pic showing the current method of clearing the debris...

Do you have their phone number or web site? J

Thats the way I clean mine too. But mine is smaller so it doesn't take that long. I have a 6 foot and use it on the pasture and riding ring. I love those things! Sure beats dragging fencing around behind you!

I don't think that they have a web site, but I can probably get ahold of their phone number from the dealer who sold it to me. I did a search on the net and found a few sizes for sale here. I will try to get the phone number from the dealer tomorrow.

I looked at the tarzan as well, it is made by a company in Ontario Canada called may bridge harrows, they also make harrows for holland hitch (painted yellow). The rod size is larger but they have less teeth per square foot then the other makes available, ended up buying an 8ft hackett online for $340 they work great for dethatching lawns as well

I think that the smaller diameter rod models work better for finish type work such as dethatching lawns, and the thicker heavier types work better for rougher grading and dirt smoothing operations. That is a really good price for a harrow. The brochure for the Tarzan chain harrows had said they were made in Loiusana if my memory serves me (which it seldom does), but I will check that when I go to the dealer tomorrow. You are certainly right about the fewer teeth per square foot, as I think that my harrow has about 1 tooth/ft2
