Chain Saw Sharpening Question

I also use the electric sharpener that looks like a small chop saw. Bought it from Bailey's, they are on the internet. With this sharpener half the tooth does not need to be removed to sharpen the chain. It is only a matter of careful setup.

The sharpener also does a nice job of keeping each tooth at the same angle, eliminating any side pulling due to uneven sharpening. Takes me about 5 minutes to sharpen a chain like new.

Very good info.Mike. G rinding the raker all the way down is dangerous that is why I said warning hold on to the saw if you do this. I wouldnot recomend this pratice to anyone.I sharpen chains for other people & I don't grind the raker all the way down.A chainsaw is a very dangerous tool to operate . Be very careful when you operate one.

Thanks for that link, very easy to understand info there.

I use a little pupose built grinder that you hook onto your truck's battery, $20 at Harbor Freight, very easy to use and it takes very little effort to get the chain sharp. You can also use it to take a little off the top, but it would be easy to take too much.........

When you're miles away from anywhere and got a day's cutting to do, it's a timesaver, but no replacement for a chain
properly done in the shop.
