Chainsaw has no power and blowing oil from exaust

/ Chainsaw has no power and blowing oil from exaust #11
I have a husky rancher about the same as your farm boss. There is a place on my saws head to install a compression release ,but it's not drilled for 1. Probably could drill & tap the current head or buy another head

Sold both my 041's and bought a 441 Stihl for that same reason , " Compression Release " . Especially if the rope breaks and instead of replacing entire rope , you just rewind and put handle back on short rope !! ( Been there , done that , Know what you are saying about it jerking back :) ) .

Pick up a new sparkplug while you are at it since that one is fouled up more than likely.

Thanks guys,
I emailed local dealer to see if they have or can get & install a compression release. Got to look tomorrow & see if there is a place on the head for one.

My big saw has 1 . I sure could benefit by having 1 on my rancher. I have used the snot out of this saw..... It still has very good compression to be a home owner grade saw.

Well the dealer says no & no.
No compression release made.
Head to thin to drill & tap.

Idea #3 (give or take a little). First I get a new spark plug. Take the old 1 and grind a small groove in the threads. Then see if works & if the engine changes.
Modern spark plugs only seal on the gasket & not the threads.
Only out a little time & 1 old spark plug.

I don't think I'd want the combustion chamber open like that for the entire time the engine was running. It would likely suck some air, allowing dirt/grit/sawdust in, along with altering the air fuel ratio, as well as send raw fuel and oil, as well as heat, out around the plug to clog up your air filter and melt your plug wire, and also reduce compression at all times. The decomp valves only stay open until the engine fires, then close up and render the jug airtight besides intake and exhaust. Just IMHO, and my $.02.

Once the engine starts the spark plug would tightened back up. They only seal on the gasket. Possible it could be too much for the gasket. Will try it and see. Maybe find an old solid copper gasket.

Its a sthil 510 think its from the late 1980s

I couldn't see the pics of your saw, but I'll bet that you have an S-10 from the late sixties- early seventies. I have an 08 from 1963 that runs good, after a new starter cup, breaker points, fuel line, carb overhaul, air filter, and spark plug. They're only 42 or 48 cc, so they're not hard to start unless the fuel or ignition is messed up. Not possible for bar oil to flood the case, because it is on the other side of the bar and chain. The fuel tank could leak into the case though.
