Simply as a challenge and fun project my buddy and I made a couple of 2 x 4 chain saw mills.
Hey, they worked great! (and cost merely the electricity to weld + scrap metal)
For fun I made a few boards but buddy made a pile of 4 x 4's that he has put to use building sheds and lean not hard to make if you weld.
Trick is that you need a very straight 2 x 4 as your guide and a ripping chain for the saw.
That chain did cost us about $25, each.
