Chainsaw scabbard on box blade

+1 on reluctant to mount the case concept -- I have the STIHL case that looks a little different but the same concept with everything plastic. I had it mounted in the carryall for a while and it tore the plastic and came loose. Now I stick with scabbards made from pieces of vinyl deck board and have not had any issues. I also have a hole drilled in it to fit the "scrench" and a cup hook to hold extra chains

my plan is to weld up a frame from angle in which it will sit with, say, a stout bungee or two as a hold down ...much the way a battery sometimes is mounted...I can/may even form a metal hold-down as per battery mounting. I like the fact that it will also hold tool/oil/ and "motomix" as well as my sharpener and an extra bar and chain (best cure for a pinched bar and chain, I have found is to remove pinched bar and chain and mount spare)

Good idea on having a spare bar and chain to remove a pinched bar.
Have you actually put all of the extra things you mentioned in the carrying case and snapped the lid shut?

yes, for my 021 ...my 031 has a humonguous bar;

yes, I wish I could take credit for the backup bar & chain idea, but it's pretty old-school ...good use for a worn-out bar and over-the-hill chain
