Change filters before fluid?

The filter on my VSP pump is a 10 micron charge pump filter . We use 10W-40 as the hyd fluid.

My hyd system is also closed loop hyd system.

Wow more info then I bargained for, but good info none the less!

I had no clue that the new hydro fluid could be dirty!!! Any experience with Amsoil being dirty when new in the jug? Seeing as it is a "high end" fluid you would think it wouldn't be!

The filter carts seem like a good idea but I have zero time (or money) for a project like that right now, maybe down the road for the next hydro change.

I am going to change the fluid and filters when the weather warms up a little. I don't want to hear the garage up from 0F today!

Filtering the oil in a production setting would be nice for the end user, but the vendor very often wins or looses a sale on price point. Unless all the vendors do it they would be putting themselves at a significant disadvantage. And from a practical standpoint not only do they have to filter the oil but they would have to preclean every container!

And I agree about Amsoil. I would ask them if they filter the oil and if so how about an oil analysis as proof? They list biodegradable hyd oil at 17/15/12 and I saw one post that said the engine oils are 15/12/x, but couldn't find anything else.
