Change P/S Fluid

I typically flush mine out at about 30K miles or so. Well, not really flush. I use a turkey baster and suck out the old stuff and replace. Its easy and you'll be amazed at the junk that accumulates.

I began doing this after losing a seal on a steering box in my 2001 F150. It had really low miles at the time and I was the orginal owner. But the steering shaft at the seal interface looked like it spend a few years in the Atlantic. It was the lowest point in the PS system, so I think it held internal and external contamination. Never had a problem again with any other vehicle.

It's a toyota, I wouldn't worry about it.

Honestly, my '97 Tacoma had 270,000 pretty hard miles on it when I got rid of it and I never did a lot of the things Toyota called for. The truck was still in excellent mechanical shape at that mileage. I changed the oil and filters regularly, trans/t-case/axle lube, plugs and wires, brakes, etc but that was about it.
