Changing filters

Is there a way to change hydraulic filters on the JD TLD 110 without losing all the fluid; as is there a cutoff somewhere I don't see???

I'm not sure about the 110TLB specifically but a lot of tractor manuals have instructions for changing the filters with minimal fluid loss. Some instruct to attach a Shop Vac to the oil reservoir filler opening (seal with a rag if needed). This will create enough suction in the system to minimize fluid loss.

On both of my JDs I'd just changed the filters with minimum loss. If I need to clean the screen I will try the shop vac trick. I talked to the JD service manager and he said it works well.

Hmmmm - - I've not tried the shop vac method. I've always changed the hydraulic filters when changing hydraulic oil. Besides - - I have a BIG shop vac - the kind that could suck golf balls down a garden hose and I'm just afraid it could result in a really big mess. I can see ruined shop vac - hydraulic oil sprayed all over the place - potential for ignition. I'll do it my way.

Besides - just drain down the hydraulic oil - change the filters - pour the hydraulic oil back in. On your TLD 110 its 15 gallons.

Oil should not be near the filler opening so couldn't be sucked up into the shop vac.. just sayin...

If yours can suck golf balls down a garden hose, that will make a great video and would like to see it..

Beenthere - - A WHOLE LOT of thing should never happen - but for some strange reason - they do. Golf balls & garden hoses - excuse my literary license. I saw a video on that once - it was a fake, but very funny. Certainly was not a shop vac sucking' those golf balls - wasn't on the kiddie network either.
