Great help on this post. I have the workshop manual but it is not that detailed. Anybody doing DYI work of this nature is fishing blindfolded if they do not have the WM. The WM assumes the mechanic using it is very mechanical minded and uses loads of common mechanic sense. The WM does have good exploded views of the assemblies which helps in reassembly. I have more than gotten my moneys worth out of that $80 purchase. I do most of my own work unless it takes expensive special tools or diagnostic instruments but then I am in the "OLD" bunch and have been overhauling mechanical machinery all my life.
I have almost 1000 hard HRs on my
BX25 in 2.5 years and still have not had any major problems of this nature. I was discussing wheel spacers with the shop manager at my dealer and he said a lot of folks do it but he sees the results in seals and bearing early failure. I have the material on hand now to make extenders for the rear wheels which I plan to do. I believe the configuration of the front axel is not conducive to extenders due to its light construction. I do lift a lot of max weights with the FEL that it was not designed for and that stresses the front end I am sure.
