Changing tires yourself? 23x8.50x14 R4 tires

I have changed tires the size you are talking about. You can do it. :thumbsup: I bought the HF $39 tire changer. Every part of it can be bent and I have done that but you'll be okay if you lube the tires both taking OFF and putting back on. To set the bead I use a 2" ratchet strap to compress the tire and when the air starts inflating the tire take the strap off as soon as possible. Make sure the rim is nice and clean as well as the rubber bead on the tire. I also used the bead breaker part to get a large rear tractor tire off, it was a slow process (lots of rust) but with lube and easy pressing it came off in about 30 minutes/side.

Lastly test for rim leaks with the soap solution before you reinstall the tire on your tractor. I found two tiny little leaks on a troublesome tire that no matter how much I cleaned and remounted would still loose pressure. Frustration sets in, I start thinking I will have to tube this thing. So I start lightly tapping the tire at those two spots with a hammer. I'm not sure why but I think the vibrations settle the bead firmly and the leaks stopped. :confused3:

Buy the tires of "your" choice.
What's the worst that can happen...... you can't get them on.
Well then, you could then take the tires and rims any where (even Walmart) to have them mounted.
My bet is you'll get the job done!

Most tire shops around me will mount a front tractor tire for about 10 bucks (had a flat fixed on my Yanmar front tire for that amount so just removing and remounting wouldn't be any higher but you may have to pay for a tire disposal.

My local mechanic shop rotated my 4 car tires, removed one tire and replace it with a new one and balanced and checked the front end for wear all for $17. A bad front end alignment had worn a tire out on the inside before I noticed it (wifes SUV). Money well spent while I sat in Air Conditioned comfort at home. Shop is only 3 miles away so we just drop off and pick up when finished.
