For the record, the regulator still has not gotten here. Supposed to be here Monday. Still trying to locate a tach cable. The1010 seems to be the one Massey Furgeson that no one wanted.

Actually resettable circuit breaker.... With a fuse it will blow when you have no spare on tractor and nearest one is at the absolute other end of property....

Dale

Ok regulator arrived today, I installed and tested it, woohoo 13.2v input to battery. This is on a battery that has been sitting on a trickle charger, so pretty normal for that state of charge.

I have not been in town to get the circuit breaker as yet, but will be tomorrow.

On another note, since my tach/hr meter cable broke it has been a nightmare to find a new one. Housing was screwed up too. Found ONE at Jacks Small Engines, for $129.00. Yea thats not happening.

Did find a web site for aircraft company that sells custom cables. After talking to them, they sell them but do not make them. They gave me the number of who did. It is a company called Speedometer Service. Their web site is 403 Forbidden. A call to them and yes they can make it. Not cheap but way better than Jacks. Total will be around $60 or so. I have to send my tach up to them to make sure they get load end length correct since I cut it off (for some stupid reason I do not even remember) and lost it.

Yea I know, don't say it. Anyway will start that process today.

I don't think I'd mess with a fuse or circuit breaker. After all, it never had one originally and the bad wire, short to ground caused the problem. I always liked split loom to put wires in, especially areas that could be problematic.

Well that is a good point. Worked well, until it didn't.

Why stop with that one wire? I would then fuse or circuit breaker protect everything.
If you're going to do something, do it right!
