Nice job Cliff. did you stick weld or mig it. jb
Thanks John. I used a mig welder (Lincoln Pro 100). Most people say they wont hold or get good penatration but I haven't had a broken weld yet. Metal prepping is a must when welding with a low amp welder. It also has allot to do with how the person is welding (ie..how he forms a puddle, his speed of welding, wire speed and weaving or pushing or even pulling the puddle). 3/8 inch is the max thickness I will weld with this welder that I have.

By the way....thanks for the comments guys. If you all haven't noticed, I'm a cheap sob (smart Ol boy...lol). I just hate paying retail when I can "do it myself" for a hole lot less and most of the time I can get more in the long run. DIY is one of my rules in life. Life is too short, so live it to the max. Just dont live on the edge. Have fun and enjoy.

Hey GLMF,

Thanks for the link. What size tooth did you use on your bar? The A-162 or the A-175-1.

Thanks,

guys, I used the A-175-1 on my CK-20 toothbar. I put six of them on, but I think five would be fine, although six isn't too many. I think it was like $140 for six of them shipped to Maine, and had the flat stock laying around so cheap money as well. Good luck

I should be getting my new teeth, shanks and pins from and ebay store named Construction_parts. Total for 5 shanks, with forged teeth and pins....$90 including shipping from California to PA. I figure about $10 for the flat bar and $30 for a bottle of Jack Daniels (for the guy doing to the welding). Should be the best $130 I ever spent.

glmf & Lets Roll,

Thanks for the replies. I will be ordering and completing tooth bar soon. Next project is to excavate for an above ground pool.

Very nice looking tooth bar.
What are you planning on digging up?
How far apart are the teeth?

I been doing allot of landscaping here lately. So, I'll be using it for dirt work. I used it for the first time Sunday afternoon on a flower garden to remove some dirt to level it out. It did a outstanding job. I should have built one as soon as I bought my tractor. I also have horses and will be using it for removing old hay off the ground.

As for the distance between the teeth. There 8 inchs apart. The end teeth are 4 inchs from the end. The rough drawing will give you a idea of what I'm talking about.

Thanks
