bought a brimar 18' 10k ele version trailer. I didn't want to spend about 2k more for the one with all the bells and whistles.

Here are my questions:

1 didn't come with a rub rail and the first hauling I did I needed a rub rail for tie down points (6 ton). Thinking about welding some flat stock on it for a rub rail, suggestions? (It won't void the warranty called dealer and trailer manufacturer.

2. Bought some stake pocket d rings, as the stake pockets wouldn't let my hooks on my straps feed through (too big). Anyone use them and are there any downsides? They are decent looking.

3. thinking about just welding on two more stake pockets where I think they would be good for tie downs and for stake pocket use. Some some on ebay with thick gauge. Any suggestions for these?

I don't weld and will have the welding done by the same guy that welded my hooks on my front bucket. They have lasted 7 years with no issues.

Just as an add on, i won't be putting a skid steer on it, so the spacing on the cross members won't really be an issue. THe dealer said he sells tons of them and doesn't have any real issues with them.

Similar situation here.
I bought a cheap new 20' Quality Steel & Aluminum 14K equipment trailer.
No rub rail, not enough stake pockets, or tie down rings.
Had some rings added, but do wish I had a rub rail also.
Tough trailer though, so am very happy with it.

Am I misunderstanding or are you hauling 6 tons on a 10k trailer?
