I am a small time farmer and need a drag-harrow for my lawn tractor to do my horse's paddocks. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Frame a small "wall" and side it with lapped boards, Hook two chains to it and pull with the laps so it will slide over things instead of catching. Make out of hardwood, pallets ect. should work well. Like dragging a hand saw backwards. My dad did this years ago to spread piles of cow pies where the cows spent a lot of time.

Some old truck tires chained together will smooth the "road apples", if that's what you need!

Not trying to hijack this thread but how well would the tires work on a looses gravel road bed.

A piece of 4' pipe with chain thru it to tie on to the tractor. Add some 4' chain link fence to the pipe, 4' to 6' long should do it. Will break things up and not grab everything like the ones with spikes.

An old, but sturdy set of box springs from a twin bed will do it too. We have used those to smooth over food plots and to cover the seed, that is, until we got better attachments to do it with. As suggested, a few tires bolted together in a "V" will work too.

They're not really cheap but we have a selection of chain harrows here on our website. The 4' should work fine behind a garden tractor. Our chain harrows ship free to a commercial business or supporting freight terminal within 1,000 miles of Newton, NC.
Here's a video showing one in action:

they can work good.

I made this one essentially for free.

On the way home from work one day i simply stopepd andd picke dup every tire and rim i saw on the side of the road.. picked out the best of those.. grabbed 3 old rusty sign posts out of the scrap piple.. did a lil chop saw and buzz job on the welder.. grabbed a few old rusty nuts and bolts out of the salvage bin.. bolted the tires together and into the frame.. drilled some holes on the bottom side of the tire sidewalls so as to not hold water... workks great to bust up clods / maneuer balls.. smooth a round pen.. and works decent on gradel. for gravel, add a fence post, 4x4, railrod tie or old pipe behind the drag.. rope or chain it on to trail the drag a foot or so...

here's one i pull behind my farmall C
