Having had the clamp on forks I can say they work okay for light loads. Heavier loads can stress your bucket. Also, they shift the load a foot and a half further away from the fulcrum of your front axle. I got rid of them when I got a two prong hay spear which doubles nicely as a pallet fork.

Regarding the cheap SSQA forks, I think I'd fork over a hundred or so more for a set with adjustable forks from Titan or other supplier.

I have had clamp on forks on a previous 30hp tractor, and now have SSQA forks on my new 40hp tractor. Usability is worlds better on the SSQA forks and I make use the adjustable fork width very often. I would not want a set of fixed/non-adjustable forks, and I'm just a homeowner.

I'll second the point on adjustability.
I typically move brush/logs/fenceposts with my forks adjusted much wider than will fit in pallets for load stability. I could make do with pallet-width fixed forks, but I'd need to chain or strap loads more.

same use for me, "brush/logs/fence posts with my forks adjusted much wider than will fit in pallets for load stability"

Put me down also in the camp that tried the clamp on forks, HATED them, bought an SSQA set of adjustable forks, and gave away the clamp on forks.

I'll second the statement that you will end up using them a heck of a lot more than you think.

Love mine. Glad I bought them. Even before we moved house. But after the move? Yeah, those babies are worth their weight in gold to me now.

Speaking as someone that did try to "cheap out" and get the clamp ons, don't do it. These guys on TBN tried to talk me out of it, and they were right. My dealer even tried to talk me out of it. He was right too. Get the SSQA set, and get them adjustable. You'd be surprised how often something that's on a "pallet" is on a non-standard width one. Or you need to move something oddball in size or shape. Having that width adjustment is great.

Yeah I have the clamp on forks and pretty much avoid using them. I have and do use them but very seldom. Wish I would have bought REAL forks but seldom need them.

The Pallet Forks dot com stuff is about as cheap as it gets. Might be fairly safe to order from them since there are few parts involved. Their packing and shipping department leave lots to be desired. Make sure and pay with paypal or buy through eBay for some third party protection.

Good move, you won't be sorry!
In the future, You'll probably be on here trying to talk someone out of buying clamp-on forks!!

Aside from clamp on forks putting the load another 2 feet in front of the pins greatly reducing lifting capacity, AND the bucket completely blocking your view, AND no matter how much you tighten them, even using a stabilizer bar and they come loose every 6 minutes, clamp on forks are just fine...., :D

A few years ago I purchased the Titan 42” pallet fork with 2 inch receiver and hay spear for $500. It is great. There were a couple of issues. I think they fixed one. The 2” receiver stuck out about 2”, so you cannot slide the forks together in the middle. I think the mount it flush now on new ones. The other issue was the two bolts that hold in the small spears to keep the bale from spinning, seize up and break when you go to loosen or tighten them. Larger bolts are needed. For the price you can’t go wrong.

Today they are $589. They do offer coupons every once and a while.
