Cheap Truck Tires?

Thanks. I checked there. No mud terrain tries.

Just an FYI to anyone interested, Tirerack does have mud terrain tires. In fact they have the Goodyear Wrangler MT's the original poster mentioned for $263 in the size he is looking for. I have bought several sets of tires from tirerack with no problems.

I've always had good luck with the Goodyear all terrains. They are not aggressive mud tires but they work pretty good and have a smoother ride on the highway. I ran them on my 2 Z71's, did great on the farm and super in the Rockies while hunting.

I haven't priced them lately since now I have a Dually, but the price was always fair.

I don't know if they are available in 17" but I have been very pleased with Dayton Timberline A/T tires(LT285/75/16). I paid about $140 per tire for the last set about 2 years ago. I got about 53,000 miles on the first set and currently have about 43,000 on the current set. Combination of city and highway driving as well as the occasional off road use. Good all around tire. I believe Dayton is owned by Bridgestone.

I just put a set of 4 Definity Dakota A/T tires from Pep Boys on my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 (245/70/17). They have a buy 3 get the 4th tire free sale going on and it made it well worth it. The tires have a 50K mile warranty and very aggressive tread design. I got the tires for $118.99 each plus mount and balance. I filled out the rebate form and sent it in with a copy of my receipt and 3 weeks later got a check in the mail for $118.99.

So far I have about 4,000 miles on the tires and really like them. They are quieter than my old BFG All-Terrains and seem to have a better grip in the mud and sand. Of course I had to try out the off-road ability! :D I have yet to try them in the snow but I bet they will be great.

I bought a set of BFG Mud Terrains for my F350 last year at Costco, the tires were $180 each, but Costco had a $60 coupon if you bought 4, that made them $165 each. Free rotation, road hazard, etc....

The $60 dollar coupons is offered at least 2 times/year.

Hope that helps.

You can do like I did and work 33 years for BFG/MICHELIN and now I get a 30% rebate on all the Uniroyal, Goodrich and Michelin tires I buy on top of the best deal I can find up to four a year. Current employees can get eight per year.

If you can find used ones, as you did before, they'd naturally be cheaper. I'm sure there has to be better deals, at least occasionally, out there, but I've never been able to beat Discount Tire deals for new tires.

Here's another vote for Discount Tire. I bought their Pathfinder brand of tires for my 3/4 ton pickup and I'm very happy. I don't know what they carry for mudgrips. Those are probably regionally stocked since sales are demand driven depending on how rural or urban you are. They are certainly worth checking with. I bought tires from Discount Tire with no mounting. I just paid a little less than $100 each for load range E tires. I brought them home and mounted them myself along with balancing them on my bubble balancer. I've had good service from them on my farm truck. I kept the old tires for trailer tires since they are load range E. As such, I didn't even have to pay a tire disposal fee.

A quick update to an earlier post, I just received in the mail, the new coupon book for Costco, and wouldn't you know it, they have the coupon for a set of 4 tires in it, but it has gone up to $70 for any 4 Michelin or BFG's.

If you didn't get the coupon book, usually they have a few extras in the stores.

Thanks. I checked there. No mud terrain tries. The all terrain tires they have are pretty wimpy. Pep Boys has some sort of off-brand mud tire but I can't find prices on line. May have to swing by there tomorrow.

Your kidding right? Tirerack has lot's of stuff. Try searching in a different fashion.

I don't know your tire size.
