I am thinking somone posted on here about the Gravely Rapid Series and the price was shocking. I vaguely remember something like 10-12 thousand for just the power supply unit and then you have to start adding pricey attachments.

The price of the Gravely two wheel and 4 wheel tractors have always been high. I recently did a price vs inflation calculation for Gravely tractors starting in 1970. Over the years, the adjusted price has remained the same. For the two wheel tractors the price has always been about 25-30% the price of a new car. The top of the line 4 wheel tractors cost about 1/2 the price of a new car.

So given that the average price of a new car is about $30,000, that new 2 wheel tractor costs the same as it did in 1970. If Gravely still made a 4 wheel tractor, it would cost around $15,000

The new ones may be nice and work just fine, but I think they'd have better luck fetching the price they're asking if they didn't look so....*plastic-ey*.

User-friendly and versatile? Perhaps. But in an "investment-quality" two wheel power unit I prefer a couple of things:

-Steel and cast iron...lots of it.

-Gear drive

Sleek and stylish covers and cowlings? Yuck.

This is more like it:

The Rapid tractors seem to sell quite well in certain European countries.
