I just got a JD 755 compact tractor with a loader and the hydrostatic transmission, power steering, 3pt hitch and loader all use the same hydraulic fluid. Went to check the transmission fluid level--pulled the dipstick--oil poured out--it's too full. I'm going to drain some but need to know if the loader cylinders be compressed or extended when checking the oil level? 3pt lift up or down?

It seems that the normal procedure for virtually all makes and models, is to check with the loader on the ground, and the 3 point down.
Basically all cylinders retracted. That will prevent damage and mess from over filling.
