How do y'all check the inflation of loaded rear tires?
By diameter, by height from a level floor, or with a gauge?

i use the gauge just rotate the tire so the valve stem is in the upright position. 12 O'Clock, and I generally open the air valve as I place it on the stem this forces any fluid inside. The release and check pressure adjust accordingly and then just the revers open the air in and remove the gauge. The might be a bit of leakages past the valve but thats normal.

I drive a wet tire across concrete and make sure it is not over inflated. You should see the full face of the tire on the ground. This might change depending on the 3 point load. I think mine were around 10 psi with R-4s on a Deere 3320 filled with rim guard. I blow the front tires up to the top rated pressure for loader work.

I always use a gauge made especially for liquid ballast tractor tires. Tractor Supply carries them.

The same way ya do unloaded tires.

yep.. same inflation pressure.. and spin the valv eup, give it a shot of air to clear the valve.. and be prepaired to eventually loose that pressure gauge... even the wet ones don't last as long when actually using them on wet tires.

Yup, that's why I use cheap guages so I don't feel bad when I have to toss them.

ya know, I have never had my gauge go bad.
hmm..
I have one my dad gave me almost 20 years ago and he got it at work when he worked for a trunking company..
Chromed all the way, and nearly a foot long..

I have cross checked it several times over the years, but it has been as accurate as always..

never used it for filled tires though...

I bet that gauge has measured 10 of thousands of times...

My comment about gauges going bad was squarely aimed at the 'wet' type used on 'wet' tires.. not any other.

Calcium chloride is especially hard on gauges. I found they last longer if submerged in water and flushed.
