If the tire looks the way it always has, and puts a full tread on the floor, why keep checking it? If it starts to look soft or leaves a puddle then you KNOW is leaking....

DO NOT use your good inflater / pressure gage combo deal! I used mine (you know the ones where it shows the pressure as you are inflating) and it was toast. Gurrrr

I've got a few cheappy gauges I use for checking filled tires. I always flush them good with fresh water and in 20 years only had one gum/rust up. So, I'd say don't use a nice gauge, but also flush the one you do use and it should last you a good long while. If you don't flush, next time you go to use it'll be trash...

Also, I always check my print in the dirt with and average load on the rear. If I'm getting full contact, then it's right, but not too much "bulge" on the side walls.... You kind of gotta get used to what to look for, but in general the specs in the manuals are too high....
