How often are you suppose to check the Ph of antifreeze in a diesel tractor? Do you also put in any anticativation supplement to the antifreeze? And lastly, where do you find the litmus (sp) paper to check the Ph?
Thanks

I havn't seen litmus paper in a while.. but you might check medicle supply stores.. as the have ph sticks for urine ph testing.. though a simple pool tester kit may get you by?

Try a deisel rated antifreeze.. those usually have the anticavitation addatives pre-mixed.

Never heard of such a thing.
Why would you want to know your antifreez's PH level ?

The only thing I have ever checked my antifreeze (radiator fluid) for was it's temperature limit ? ie. good for x degrees below O
If this is the test result your looking for?
You can buy an inexpensive testor from NAPA or even Walmart for this.

I think what you really want to check is your DCA level, thats the anti-cavitation additive that diesels need. Find yourself an International or other heavy truck dealer and talk to their parts department, or even your NH dealer. If the dealer doesn't have a clue, the "big" truck dealer had better. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
