ChemLawn secrets?

Around here you can quickly roast a lawn with too much nitrogen. Especially if you don't irrigate. Although this summer, with only one day over 90 degrees so far, it has been cool and wet. The grass seems to love it. It is growing about 3-4 inches each week.

I know, ain't it great? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Been real cool here too, with plenty of rain. Haven't watered once this year and the grass is still very green.

Not too good for the business I'm in though, people just don't use the juice in their A/Cs in this kind of weather. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I have used ChemLawn for several years and have no compalints. I usually check the quoted annual price (four applications) against the cost of buying the fertilizer and always find that the ChemLawn price is less than I would have to pay for the fertilizer. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Follow up on the spreader refund...

Got a check for $19.99 in the mail on Saturday. I think my father in law paid $22.00 or something like that seven years ago. Not too bad. I saw the spreader for $25.00 on-line just three weeks ago. He'll be happy to buy another one. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

This year I began using 2,4-d I thought i would apply like everyother "weed and feed" and get no results.
To my suprise it killed the crawling ivy? within a week and my lawn has never been thicker and free of weeds.
The ivy spread so much and so thick it killed the grass under. The stuff spreads fast , but i have had no problems.
Be careful with it though, it has an ingredient a Agent Orange had.
I have been applying MSMA to control crabgrass but no luck so far, next im goping to use a pre-emergent to stop that stuff before it starts.
Some may think working for a "nice" lawn has no purpose. But i enjoy going out there and seeing a finshed result.

Yes, a nice lawn makes you feel good. I like to walk in it barefoot. As I mentioned before, I only use chemicals on the front where people see it. In the back and play areas and near the well I never use chemicals. The yard is a little over an acre and I usually only do about 5000 Sq. Ft. I can't imagine how much it would cost to do the whole thing. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
