Growing up we always had ice cream in the freezer, often homemade. Now that I have my own freezer, there is never ice cream in it. Too much temptation. I try to keep meat, veggies and fruit in it, that is pretty much it.
With our nest becoming empty-er, we can and did put the new freezer in a bedroom (we have 3 spares), and the room is still usable as a guest room.
I'll see your sirloin, and raise ya a Porterhouse

I've got to ask, is the window shaker the only thing you're using mechanical for cooling in the meat locker between 30 and 40 F? Or what temp do you keep the room?

Me personally, I would never put a deep freeze of any size on anything but a concrete floor. Mine is on what used to be a concrete porch many years ago before they enclosed it long before I bought this place.
Why wood? It holds moisture just like concrete does. I can see it if you're after air circulation under the freezer, but anything including concrete pavers would work. If you're after isolation from moisture, wouldn't you need a waterproof membrane like plastic? If you are in an area with humidity or dampness, I would not put any appliance directly on a concrete floor. I would suggest wood blocks to keep it away from the dampness.
