I am planning to use either Amsoil 5W30 synthetic hydraulic oil or Chevron All-Weather Synthetic THF in my new tractor. Locally they are about the same price (Chevron $62.50/5gal. : Amsoil $65.00/5gal.) so price doesn't really matter. Are either of these hydraulic oils going to be better than the other or is it a draw?

It's a draw. I'd go with what is readily available and that would be the Chevron.

Look for some test sheets etc. I would and do base my oils on perfomance and not where I can buy them. I can buy Fords for example all over the place, but it does not mean it is the best in that class either.

Another example, I can buy a no name dvd or tv at Walmart but I would not buy it just since I can buy it close to home. They is much more to buying a product they that.

I was not aware that Amsoil made a muti-weight hydraulic fluid. Multi-weight engine oil, yes, but not hydraulic fluid.

Yes, there hyd fluid has a 5w-30 SAE rating.

This must be the change they made recently. The ATH I have indicates SAE 30.

I think it is on their website, Mike.

When I did the 50 hour service on my CK20, I used Amsoil ATH. I ordered a 5 gallon bucket and 2 quarts because I was expecting the change to use the entire 5 gallons and wanted the quarts for top offs and such if needed... or if I got a leak and needed to replenish after fixing the leak.

The 5 gallon bucket I received was 5w-30, but the two quarts were straight 30 weight. They were both ATH from Amsoil.

The other thread that was running about ATH not meeting the Kubota spec.. was it run on ATH straight 30 weight or on the multi-viscosity version and which is right (or are they both right)... argh

Thanks, I found it on their web site. My point was that the bottles of ATH I have (bought last summer) indicate SAE 30.
