Thanks for your input. I knew someone wouldnt like the idea of lowering it. I dont like el caminos and cars dont look good with a trailer. As for lifting the truck it is not practical because i dont plan on going off road and makes it more unsafe. A lowered truck would have better handling. Im going to see what kelly blue book says about the trucks value.

Value for a 87 shortbed was 1400 - 2100 with 305 and 4 speed
85 shortbed was 1000 - 1800 with 305 and 4 speed
there was a silverado and scottsdale option. Where they just trim packages or something else?

That's right. The Scottsdale was the first level upgrade, and the Silverado was cloth seats, carpet, and usually air, pw and pl, tilt wheel, etc.

Its to bad that we are on different ends of the country. There is a young man, who lives across the street, and is leaving shortly foe his first year of college. He has a beautiful 1969 Chev C10 shortbed stepside for sale. And is asking $2000 for it. Over the last two years he has added a new metallic blue paint job, new oak bed flooring rebuilt the 327, and added a muncie 4 speed, Oldsmobile powerseat and tilt steering. Plus new tires on aluminum wheels. It was a great father and son project.

He probably has 3 times as much into it as he is asking. But he needs the money for college.

During the 80's chevy sold a lot more of the more popular K10 four wheel drives.

By the way until 1988 the GMC's were labeled C15, 25 and 35's.

Frank,

Chevrolet made hundreds of thousands of C-10's as did GMC with their C-15's as Russ correctly stated the GMC class one trucks were labeled (I had erroneously typed 1500 instead of 15).

The fact is that you're looking at what will soon be a sixteen year old truck at the newest to find that body style. THAT is what's making your search tougher.

Be very careful of Kelly Blue Book for values. I've been in this business over a quarter of a century and have yet to find the magical, mystical place where Kelly gets those numbers.

That 69 stepside for $2,000 sounds like quite a nice vehicle for the money but I doubt your folks would let you fly cross country to get it and drive it back home. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
