Oil changing got a lot easier with my last two new vehicles:

F350 - sits high enough I can roll under on the creeper (and almost sit upright) without jacking the vehicle up.

Toyota Yaris - the oil filter and drain plug are located at the right front corner of the engine and I don't even have to get under the car, just reach under the front bumper.

I don't get everyone's newfound love of canister filters. From years of dealing with them on motorcycles all I can say about them is - I hate 'um.

Spin on filters were invented over 50 years ago to eliminate the inconvenience of canister type filters. No parts to clean or multiple o-rings to deal with. You just unscrew the can and screw on a new one.

If we exclude the dubious eco-advantages, auto engineers are reinventing canister filters for one main reason - packaging. Being internal to the engine they use less space in the engine compartment. There's really no other reason to use them. And certainly there's no performance advantage...

Some large truck engines are starting to use canister filters. The International 466E's come to mind. Theirs however is not only a regular filter but a actual oil spinner with bearings in it. It acts as a centrifuge filter in addition to the regular media type filter. The centrifuge slings the soot out of the oil so it does not plug up the media portion of the filtration system.
