Agreed, it's a very nice looking car. What I can't figure out is why they took so long to get it out? They've had it in the magazines and car shows for years now

Agreed.

I'm thinking it was about three years ago a customer asked me to come over and take a look at some cars he was restoring. He's into "hot rods" big time, and even told me back then about the new Camaro that was coming out.

I just read somewhere that some of the U.S auto makers too many executives and they can't respond fast enough to the market. Kind of makes sense, who knows?

My cousin's wife picked up her's yesterday. She has been tracking it since they announce they were going to build a retro version.

I do like her choice of colors. She is calling it her ice cream car...it will only be driven on sunny days to get ice cream.

RIDGEWALKER, I am with you. I love the color orange on a muscle car. My cousin sent me this pic a while back. It would be hard to choose between the two.

As a former owner of two 67RS I have to say I just don't see the family resemblance

I'm with you. My first car was a '68 SS and I had a '69 convertible and a '73 type LT. I think the new one looks way too modern. There's no crisp lines like the old ones, it's way too rounded. I would take the Mustang or the Charger any day of the week. Doesn't matter to me which one is faster. There's enough aftermarket goodies to make any of them the king on your block.

Ahhh the look of the 69 Camaro.

That was my first car when I was 16, a 1969 Camaro RS. Went with my Dad and he signed for it but I paid for it by working nights after school as a cook. Price, it was $2,995.00.

I may have to get one for nostalgic reasons when they price settles down a bit. I've got a wedding anniversary coming up I wonder if I can pass it off as a gift for "my wife". Ya that's he ticket, I'm sure she would like the 426 with the 6 speed manual - whatdaya think?

Most Texas dealers are getting $5,000 over sticker price on the new Camaro right now.

Agreed, it's a very nice looking car. What I can't figure out is why they took so long to get it out? They've had it in the magazines and car shows for years now, then they had it in the first Transformers movie, but still not out in the dealers. Ford has been selling the Mustang without any competition for decades now and GM is just now getting off their duff.

Eddie

And there's the (main) problem with GM. I read a good article in Forbes about GM's downfall. Basically the company was crushed by its own weight. A bureaucratic nightmare. Too many chiefs, not enough Indians....left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing... (insert other appropriate cliché here). Hopefully the execs will see this as a wake-up call and get the US auto makers back on track.

Back to topic, it is a good looking automobile. My sister-in-law bought one two days ago. The design looks very cool inside and out. Some of the finish on the interior looks a little cheap....plastic, basically. That's a problem I've felt many GM vehicles have had for the last couple of decades.

Overall, if I were in the market for this type of car, it would be a serious contender.

BTW, I haven't confirmed but my Oldsmobile site has a posting saying that GM already has a recall out on the 4 speed versions of the new Camaro. Seems the gear box can't take the torque...

That wouldn't be R.O.P. would it?

Not many of the new high torque cars have a tranny that can handle the torque. I know the rebuilders down at Rockland Standard Gear, one of the few GM certified rebuilders of the Corvette manual trans. They say most of the new factory gearboxes are junk.
