The Volt has burned in fires. The problem is the batteries require a cooling system full of coolant. And when that coolant leaks out the batteries get hot real hot and burn. Now in an accident even a small accident if that system leaks it turns into a fire. Even a coolant leak in your garage will cause the batteries to over heat and catch fire. EVER HAVE A RADIATOR LEAK? Well for the Volt that means a huge fire. Sorry, to bust your bubble it's just a fact.

The root cause of the fire was from a leaking cooling line which caused corrosion on the battery which ate into the lithium layers. Once the layers began to short, the current potential was released causing the heat need to cause combustion.

Unlike other battery chemistry, Lithium will release its charge all at once.

The other fire linked to Volt was in the garage of an owner in North Carolina. The cause of this fire was traced to the charger being used to charge the vehicle. It remains unclear if the charger being used was installed correctly.

The battery needs to be cooled when the vehicle is under power of the battery, that is when lithium chemistry creates heat, so a loss of coolant is not going to cause the battery to catch fire unless the coolant leaks on the battery. Everything I said can easily be self-discovered with a few Google searches.

I'm not defending the Volt or GM. I simply want to present the facts and not carry on the silly propagation of Internet rumors or people's uninformed assumptions.

My point is you tried to make people think that Volt's had not caught fire or have a fire issue, and clearly they do. Anything with LI batteries do. My point is they burn, I remember the video of guys like you saying laptops can't catch fire and one caught fire burning during the press conference. LOL. Volt is not just a looser technology, its dangerous.
