A attached is a photo of our chicken coup.
Let me see what I can tell you about it. To start off with it is about 8x12 with a 2x6 door, it has electric wire on the bottom and center to stop anything (bad animals) from getting in to it and it has welded mess on all sides and the top as well. The chicken house is about 4x4 and has a fold down door in the back to get to the eggs and cleaning (no need to go into the coup just to get eggs). The wood I used was stuff I had here so I can’t give you a cost and I am not sure how much the mess was. I could of made something allot smaller for only 2 chicken, but I really wanted them to have room to move around.
I have had my New Jersey Black Giants for 3 years and they have been safe and sound. I haven’t seen anything to tell me that they have been in any danger of any animals (hawks, fox, coyotes), from digging under it or getting on top of it, but I am sure they have been checked out.
Well it isn’t anything great but it works and spring around here isn’t the greatest looking thing so I haven’t cleaned up around there yet.
Also for a side note. I do let them out when I can keep an eye on them and to get them back in to the coup I just use a hand full of “horse sweet feed” and they follow me right back in the coup (they LOVE sweet feed as a treat).
If there is anything I can help you with by given more pics or anything let me know.
