Guinea's would be best, find some older birds that know the ropes, they fly like quail have eyes better than a wild turkey and not many ground predators can catch them, Hawks and owls will take their toll and weed out the unfit for you. I kept them for years and the only loss to ground predators was when the hens stole their nest's out in the brush.
They need cover like tree's and brush to survive other wise they are sitting ducks for hawks.
They do eat ticks but they won't solve your tick problem.
I gave mine away for free because of the constant racket they make, after around 8 years I finally had enough.
