I realize this is the chinese tractors forum, but It's not a practical Q for the farming section. I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on chinese small balers for me. We farm hay and have 3 field where my large tractors sink out of sight so I was thinking a small round chinese baler on a compact might do the job and provide some possible income to horse people etc for resale.
Does anyone know of a dealer, or moreso prices? How do you handle them? I know they are approx 100lbs but does anybody have a clue as to what the bales sell for or how they weather.
I'm thinking because of their makeup I could be competitive with tthe small square boys since theirs have to be keep sheltered.
What about drying time? can I bale wet with one?
Any help or a web site would be appreciated.

Part of the answer is to look at the Allis Chalmers Roto Baler made back in the 60s. Theyre still around and sell for 200-1000 depending on condition. Find someone that used one look at the rolls very difficult to handle labor intensive but stack well.
Can you bale wet? NO.... some advanced balers do allow some high moisture but thats not what your looking at. Wet damp hay in a common roller is just heartache and expense not to mention rotten molded hay. The chinese baler is not high tech.
Unsheltered rolls loose (rot and slough off) at least 15% and if not baled well probably 40% of the hay depending.
Handling Im not sure but you could make a fork for the roll if the roll has integrity. The end user or customer would be the best person to ask. I would go in line square or small hay roller like 530 Hesston (4 X 4) and if needed you can get a bale slicer to cut sections off the roll. If you try to sell the hay it needs to be uniforn for the user to handle.

Points well taken. I guess I just wanted to get away from the "same old" that the square boys sell everybody. I'm thinking a 3 or so bale accumulator at the back coupled with a tiger paw or some other kind of fork would make the pickup easier.

jd210, I hear ya about the "same old" square bale thing.

I think there is a market for or can make a market for the small china machine made round bales. I dont live in hay country....but there is a fair amount of hay being made. I feed 200-250 square bales a winter on average.

The biggest complaint I have personally hear from my customers about round bales is.....I dont have anything to pick them up with or my tractor is not big enough. I can't buy extra cause I can't move them etc...

I have researched these round balers a little.....two models,,

BALE SIZE BALE SIZE
20x28in. 24x28in.
80-120 a hr 100-150 a hr
18-30hp required 30-50hp required

Pick up Width is 31in for both machines and I have never priced them. I have not been able to find anyone in the USA that has imported them or anyone who has bought one?? I would like to talk to a end user before I would ever import them here in the US. I think they would sell once the consumer saw the bale. There are a lot of FEL buckets out there .....that bale would roll in to on the farm. Lot of bales per acre too.

maybe someone has one and will chim in???

the exact kind of customers I'm thinking of are the "my tractor can't move big round bales" people. But I don't really want to be north americas guinnea pig. It would sure be a nice selling feature to tell people they don't have to store the bales indoors.

You can buy small round balers in the US now! They are used to bale pine needles. The ones I researched a year or two ago were about 8K, can't see the price selling them. The chinese ones have only recently been offered in the US.
I priced these little buggers and can't justify the price., even though I too think there is a market for a small round baler. I don't think you are going to find an end user in US.
