My wife makes her own treats at home. For food, she buys Orijen, made in Canada. All organic, human food grade stuff.

Our dogs do not get junk food. For treats they get a Milk Bone of a ice cube. They absolutely love ice cubes, you would think they are bonbons. It's horrible that so many animals have been sickened and died when all their owners were doing was giving them a special treat.

Ours eat vegetables from the garden all summer and in the winter get carrots from Sam's Club. They seem eager for both.

Same here. Samson sticks his nose up at any kind of commercial treat. Spoiled pooch insists on liver (beef/chicken) so what's what we cook for him.

In light of the recent info on dog treats we were looking at the cat food we purchased. The two brands we have don't list as USA made. Contacted one and were informed that it was all packaged in the USA with some foreign ingredients.(China?) The other was unable to be contacted. Both are LARGE well known companies.

Red China doesn't even care about the additives in the Baby Formula that was made in that RED Country. Why would the Red Chinese even care about food treats given to PETS? Please do the research for the % of APPLE JUICE that is imported from Red China to the United States. It would amaze you, and the imported Apple Juice is even marketed for Infants.

I started using something called dogfoodadvisor.com and it sends you alerts of recalls. There are a surprising number of them. Our animals (and our humans too!) don't get any food from China if we can identify it. The trouble is that it can be difficult as a US company may be importing and you'll never know.

I don't want to eat anything from China and neither should my dog.

We use hot dogs for treats, usually this brand made in Mass. (they supply the Boston Red Sox Fenway Franks):

I like a hot dog now and then, so we share.

My wife and I own two pet supply stores and customers are very vocal about not wanting Chinese ingredients or products. Problem is that USA or Canadian ingredients cost more and they complain about the higher prices. I always say "there is a reason the Chinese goods are so cheap" so consumers have to make a choice. I personally won't feed Chinese products but some of the largely used ingredients can't be sourced from anywhere like the far east in the quantities that the "huge" companies need.

There are lots and lots of products available out there that are made in North America without ingredients from the east, you just have to do a bit of research to find them and pay a small daily premium to get them.
