Hi everyone - TonyC, markie61, DIYGuy and ken4210.

I followed the previous Chinese chipper thread carefully and am very intrigued by the product!

I was wondering if any of you had any further updates regarding the mechanical failures in the unit? Did you get them resolved? How is the unit after a summer of chipping?

I am interested, but I want to make sure the unit will be reliable.

Also, does Gary from Emerybuilt still carry them?

Thanks!

I still like mine. I would buy it again and would recommend it, but only to those who are mildly mechanically minded (or greater /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif) It chips well, feeds well, and appears that it will last.

I re-engineered the feed shaft BEFORE I even used it and have not had one problems with THAT part. However, the self-feed disengage lever was hitting the sheetmetal on the belt/gearbox cover and would not disengage the feed mechanism (safety issue). I just lengthened the "notch" in the cover an inch or two longer (sawzall with metal blade) and it has worked since like a champ.

I don't know if I said in my review, but the several grease fittings were missing and a couple brass ones snapped off.

You will have to call Gary to see if he still sells them and check his stock levels. Hurricanes are now upon us.... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
