I have heard that Mahindra will be offereing a Chinese tractor, this seems to be confirmed by the fact that the EPA now lists a Mahindra China engine as cerified. I know they bought the Jaingling plant that was (is?) making the Lenar tractor. Are they bringing this tractor to the USA under the Mahindra name? What is the pricing of this. While there have been other large companies buy into Chinese factories, to my knowledge none has openly marketed a Chinese built tractor in USA. I think this will have some interesting impact on the market. Of course it remains to be seen if it is openly marketed as Chinese...

Will it help or hurt your business if that is true ,since you are a Dealer for Long Farmtrac, Kioti, Farm Pro, KAMA ? Two years ago when I was looking, I found out a lot about brand and where they were actually made. What a surprise (France,Italy,Romania,Korea, Japan)
I also looked at Chinese Tractors.( the dealer I test drove a Dong Feng tractor is no longer in business)
IMO, If Mahindra brings up the Quality of the chinese tractor than they made a good move by simply beating the other big name tractor companies to China. if not they could kiss the US market share they worked hard to build GOODBYE. I'm old enough to remember the first imports from Japan, they were garbage, but now the quality of their imports are now high, and in some cases far superior, don't know if in my lifetime China will reach that level, but it seems its starting all over again.
Good or Bad , its out of my hands, Its all part of the GLOBAL ECONOMY.
Here is a link to a earlier post. Lenar made by Mahindra
Just in case you are wondering, I own a Mahindra (India) made in Korea, Model 4110, and it has performed as well as any tractor I have ever used in the past. Would I buy this tractor again, YES

Its hard to say what if any effect it would have on my business. As a dealer in Chinese tractors I have been watching for more acquisitions of Chinese manufacturers by international firms. John Deere, CNH and Mahindra have acquired plants in China, but to my knowledge Mahindra is the only one I have heard may market them in USA.

There is some Irony here as 3 years ago, I had suggested to an exec. at another Indian owned manufacturer who had asked about my experiences with Chinese tractors, that I thought Jaingling might be a good target for their Chinese interest, guess either they didn't believe me or Mahindra just beat them to it....

As a Mahindra dealer, I have mixed feelings with the Chinese Mahindra. Chinese tractors have there place, and one built by Mahindra in China will have good quality control and great support here in the USA. Yet it will not be the quality of the Mitsubishi built 15 series. I think the marketing will have to be real well thought out. I also think the tractor should remain simple, allowing for more funds focused towards quality and consistency then bells and whistles. Some major was going to do it, and Mahindra is in a unique position at this point. I'm not in the loop regarding when/what/where on these, so these are just some thoughts.
