I do buy chinese food, it it's made in america

The chinese can copy anything, they just got busted for some really nice fake cisco routers. couple years ago there were the counterfeit square D breakers.

Careful with the Chinese food. Here in Western NY they caught a restaraunt owner butchering a road kill deer in his restaraunt last year. No defamation or slander/ Was on the news..... It makes you wonder whats wrapped in those noodles in the Wonton soup...

What everyone has failed to mention is that the chinese tractors are good for people who casually use them. I mean in the 100hr a year range is a good number to tell someone about. If you are a hobby farmer with a mechanical background I would then recommend a chinese tractor to you. But if you are non technical and take everything to get fixed by someone else then you better buy a name brand like Kubota.

We have a FarmPro (Jinma) 2420 at our family farm that I maintain. My brother was the purchaser of it and when I found out he "pulled the trigger" I told him to keep his checkbook ready when the 2 cyl engine blows on it. lol We have about 350hrs on it now and it's still working ok with just minor repairs but you wouldn't expect a quality tractor like a Craftsman to last either would you ? That's about what a chinese tractor will compare to. A box store brand lawn tractor. IMO of course. And that's based on the quality of the manual, the parts distribution system (mostly mail order like they are) and the quality of the product (such as low end lawn tractors are built to a price point) .

All comes down to Good, Fast, or Cheap. Which two do you choose ?

You had me agreeing at first, but then lost me. Chinese tractors ARE great for hobbyists & homeowners, but I have yet to meet anyone who stakes their company name and livelyhood on one. I own a Kubota, but I fix & upgrade it mostly myself. I find it's VERY easy to work on. I don't take everything to the dealer to get fixed. I'm sure the Kubota repair manuals are much easier to read than a Chinese tractor manual. Everything I buy that's made in China has terrible manuals and little customer support.

I avoid "cheap" and new because usually you get what you pay for. My strategy has usually been to buy equipment used from a rich person who gives up on his latest toy. Usually their equipment is garaged, waxed :laughing: and has very little hours and is 30% cheaper than new. I goy my 7040 from a rich boy in GA that put only 161 hours on it in 3 years! I paid $15,000 less than a new tractor. It still looks great, it's loaded and even has some powertrain warranty left on it! :thumbsup:

I got an attachment the same way. 2 neighbors were trying to "out-buy" each other and would leave a trail of basically unused equipment for sale in front of their expansive properties as they would keep buying bigger pieces to out-do each other. They even began to call me to see if I wanted to buy the latest attachment that they gave up on. I guess some people have more money than brains. :laughing:

I didn't really want to put my:2cents: in, but here goes......

being in the equipment repair business I'm always amazed at how many desperate chinese equipment (tractors too) owners come in for seemingly petty problems but they are major to the owner who has a pile of iron in their yard doing nothing......small things like fittings, hoses, tubing and component failure brings them to their knees.....

Had a customer offer me his 6 month old chinese tractor for a steal after we fixed several issues....when it was sold he was relieved and bought a new MF....haven't seen him since...

when shopping for my new tractor I did not even consider the "Cheap Alternatives" as my time off is alot more valuable than fixing my stuff on weekends.....

I know they do make tough tractors but I've seen too much of how they put them together

Ive got 2 china tractors a Foton 404 from rural King for 7000 in 2005 and a foton 704 for 15,000 in 2005. the 704 needed a bearing replaced on the front drive shaft at less than 50 hours, then last year i ran a big 5 by 6 krone bale and ate the clutch up. The 404 is still trouble free except for the normal wear. They get used a lot. I have mechanical ability. I think the 404 is equivalent to the ford 3000 back in the 70s being the best small general use tractor on the market.

Neither are the quality of a major brand. Especially with fit and finish and comfort.

Was talking to a friend today who was in china recently. Where he was, he said they farmed everything by hand, no automation, no tractors. I guess they send all the tractors here. He had some really nice pictures to show, very pretty, but he couldn't wait to get back home.
