I'm in the electronic's business, and import to the US from asian countries. I'm looking for a small 4x4 tractor for my property and located many tractor factories in China.

Jinma, Hubei, etc.. However, I read a post about engine's and the EPA as well as a Foton (illegal to import).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to wire hard earned $ for a tractor, wait a couple of months, and then get messed up with customs, etc..

Thanks

Slorne,
You may get more response if you post this under the Chinese section. Kioti is S. Korean, not Chinese, big difference. Your concerns are well founded regarding importing a single tractor. If you want one, I would buy one that is already in USA.

I've had some real bad experances with most chinese tractors. Parts, avalibility, and some of them really do not belong here in the good ole U.S.A.
I know some folks here that own them, they are well satisfied, untill it breaks. There are lots of folks out there who have had a good experance with the gray market machines. I am not one of them...
Check it out real good. then check it out again.

I would prefer something that has support here at home. (parts, dealerships, training, warehouses etc.)

slorne . . . there are some well established businesses who import chinese tractors and more importantly they have parts available. You'd probably be money ahead if you simply order a Jinma tractor from someone like Northern Tool or Homier. Not only will you eliminate the risk of EPA issues, but you will get a warrenty and a parts source. These tractors are very rough in the fit & finish department by our standards, hoses and belts also seem to be some concern, but they are cheap servicable machines that will serve you well if you don't mind doing some of your own wrench turning.

Don't let that "grey market" statement mislead you. Grey market refers specifically to USED imports, models that would otherwise never have been sold NEW in America.

That said, the emerging Chinese (new) tractor market is quite confusing right now. There are only a few basic manufacturers (Jinma, KAMA/Taishan, Foton primarily), but these underlying models are subsequently marketed under a myriad of names and color schemes, trim levels and options.

That's where we come in - to help you sort the wheat from the chaff. Given the current turmoil generated trade dress infringement and EPA transitions - and one or more unscrupulous importers - most who have been there done that generally recommend against self-import at this time. And it's looking like this may end up being a semi-permanent recommendation. That said, already being an importer may give you an edge, but beware that Customs is currently giving all blue Chinese tractors a very hard look.

Slorne,

I own a Jinma and the common misconception is parts availability. There are many places you can get parts quickly and easily. I don't know about the other brands parts availability but Jinma is sold under many names.

The parts thing is a joke whe they say its hard to find them... I bet right now you can find and get a part for a jinma as fast or even faster than a JD or other big3. Cmon, everyone knows that most parts you need for even a green machine needs to be ordered most of the time so its no different than a jinma. And parts are so cheap at dealer price they can afford to stock a **** of a lot more! i used to import them! a piston was about 8$ an injector was like 5$ an injection pump like 75$ lift pumps for 45$ you cant afford not to stock parts! dont let anyone tell you parts are hard to find.
And for the lesser known chinese tractors a lot of them have common parts on them that cross over. Many Kama parts fit a Jinma and so on..

I have to agree. When I ordered parts I received them in no time at all. I actually had a dealer send me bushings @ no charge and I didn't buy the tractor from him. Rocker arm also sent @ no charge from another dealer I didn't buy from. I have a Jinma 224 and I'm proud of the work it does. Didn't pay more for it than a decent Quad and it does all the work I ask of it.

Are these the Chinese tractors that you sent me a private message on. The names of these Chinese tractors are very confusion to me. I have found a dealership in Liberty, KY that has these Chinese tractors. The name of their tractors are Eagle. You can get these tractors in a 50, 60, and 70 horsepower. These size tractors come with 4X4, 2X2, with cabs, or without cabs. They also have smaller horsepower tractors in the Eagle brand.

At the present time, I do not know the dealers web site in Liberty, KY, but if you want to find them go to Ironsearch's main page and click on dealers, and then click on Kentucky, and you will find them in the Kentucky dealers.

Their name is:
Liberty Motors
