Chinese tractors

I know that we are getting a little off subject, but with all of the EPA emission requirements I wonder that if some day soon the tractor will go the way of the automobile, they will become so complex and computerized that without thousands of dollars of specialized test gear you will not be able to work on your own equipment. What a sad thought that is ! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

If Kubota, JD and New Holland are facing formibable challenges to meet these new standards, will the Chinese manufacturers, so used to "old technology", be able to make the necessary investments to modernize their "old technology"?

Hey OrangeGuy,

This is just a guess, but the way I see it is. EPA, is nothing more than an exchange for a rubber stamp and give me the money.

IMHO, it is just a money thing and being able to be competitive. And I wouldn't be surprised to see, more engines coming from China, rather than less engines, because they can produce them for less cost whether EPA compliant or not.....

It would not surprise me at all, to see in the future, that China may be building the Engines for JD, NH, Kabota and all the others as well.

Money rules and right now and into the forseeable future, The Money is flowing to China.

Ford and Chrysler are also going to China to build Cars and then ship them back to America. So if China can build EPA Compliant Autos/Trucks, then I would venture to guess that they can also do the same with Tractor Engines. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Yes, it will probably happen eventually! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Boat engines are headed that way today. Simple carb outboards are being replaced with direct injection, highly computerized and sensor ladden engines. Also manufacturers are looking at how to add catalytic converters to boats.

CARB actually means "No carbs allowed" /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

JMHO, the chinese will buy the rights to copy a complient engine. Thats what they are good at, copying.
