hello all,
I am wondering people opinions of the staples versus the cleats.?
I will be laying the standard hardwood floors and have the floor gun but have a choice of the 'L' cleat or the staples.It would seem like the staples are good as there is twice as much nail contact due to the two 'prongs' However I have recycled a few jobs that used the staples and they seem to pull up easily(the boards).

500 Piece 2" 15 Gauge Flooring Staples

#16 x 2 in. Carbon Steel L-Style Flooring Nails (1,000-Pack)-4702 at The Home Depot

Also curious the legnth one would suggest. I have a 5/8 plywood deck 16 on cc floor so i assume that the 2 inch would be fine. I will be screwing the supfloor down tighter to the joists as they were nailed originally, and plan to snap lines on the plywood where the joist come so i can get one or two of the flooring nails through the plywood and also hit the joists.
This will be my first floor with a gun I hope avoid the fingers being bashed from when i set flooring last time.:confused2:
drill and nail and set. wow slow and painful..
Thanks for any opinions:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Some brands of hardwood floor specify that you use the L type nail. Staples seem to have a tendency to split the tongue more than the nails.
