BX2670 300 hrs.

Starts up fine. Initially, works okay. After about 10, the engine begins to die with the RPMs dropping to around 500, then it comes back up, works a little, only to repeat that scenario again and again. Any ideas?

Fuel gelling maybe? Check you're fuel filter for crystallization.

Another thing I have had happen that causes this,

If you have a fuel line that is collapsing, it will do so when the fuel coming from the return line warms the fuel in the system and softens the lines, when the lines are cold they are stiff and the fuel flows freely, do you "hear" any difference in the fuel pump if you shut the tractor off and turn the key to let the glow plugs warm after the tractor acts up?

Try loosening the fuel cap--could be the vent that allows air in to take the place of fuel moving to the engine is partially clogged.

Change the fuel filters if you haven't already. Could also be junk in the tank obstructing the fuel outlet (I've had this happen). Tank has to come out for this little repair. :-(

Sounds to me like the tank is not venting properly.
Remove the filler cap and try again.
If the engine runs smoothly you have found your problem.
Cure= new cap

Next is crap at tank outlet, blowing air back thru the fuel line will prove that out and confirm if it starts repeating the symptoms after a while.
Cure=clean out the crap.

Clogged filter also a possibility.

If you haven't already, I recommend checking both fuel filters. There is the one on the left side of the engine and there is another fuel filter before the lift pump under the floor plate. If you shine a light on the opposite side of the filter you may see a build up of material. If you're sure the filters are clean make sure the lift pump runs when the key is in the on position. Check to see what kind of fuel volume flows with the injection pump inlet hose is disconnected. The fuel flow should surge a little at the same rate as the lift pump rattles. If there is no fuel or very little fuel produced removed the inlet hose to the filter under the floor plate (fuel tank outlet hose). Make sure you have good flow from the tank. If the flow is insufficient remove the fuel cap. At this point if you still have a flow issue blow air back up the hose in to the fuel tank. If that resolves the issue there is some foreign material inside the fuel tank intermittently blocking off the fuel outlet. George the Beagle is correct. If there is something in the tank, the tank will need to be taken off of the tractor to remove it. Good luck.
