We are funny about equipment. Funny as in weird. And sometimes humorous, too! From the very beginning there have been brand wars and name calling. A lot of it is in fun, I participate and won't stop! But sometimes you wonder...
I got a chance to help a buddy find his 'perfect' tractor recently. All the usual factors came into play. It had to be big enough for some things, small enough for others. It had to fit his parking place and his budget. it had to be a reasonable value, too
We tried to be objective We looked at Lamars and Jinmas Masseys and Mahindras. LG, Branson, Kioti, New Holland, Deere, and Kubota. We even seriously considered Cub Cadet.
He ended up with a Kubota, and it is 'perfect'!!! Now, I am probably considered a Deere guy, so that might be a shocker to some. But there wasn't a 'perfect' Deere for him. Even though he said that if money were no object he wanted a Deere. It was, and there wasn't a contest. (funny thing is that two years ago, it was the Deere that was lower priced... But they don't seem to have a match for the new B30's...)
Kioti was higher than Deere. Cub Cadet's resale scared us to pieces, not to mention the 'Botas just seemed better. The same held true for Mahindra, and the Branson Dealer is a local sideshow comedy act...
We came to TBN for advice, and there is some really good out there. But a few posters are pretty funny.
Consider this post in Kubota Buying:
I am deciding between the L2800 and B3030; is there really enough difference to warrant the $1000 up charge?
gets answers like:
You need a Kioti ck20 hst, cause I have one and they are orange!
Or
I wrestled with the same decisions as you when I bought my last 641 tractors. A lot of debate is swirling around the New Holland and Deere tractors. Here are 167 points that your prospect needs to understand that our plastic is better than theirs, our radiator screen is metal, our hood props are designed by NASA, the Lira is weak against the dollar. They don't even have a bunny embossed on a color coded joystick. Print this out and see what your Kioti dealer has to say about it!
OK, if I annoy half of you as bad as these posters are annoying me, I am truly sorry. And to all you great Kioti and NH owners who are truly trying to help others, thanks! I hope I haven't offended you.
It is just that a lot of folks come here for answers not thinly disguised flim flammery...
Have fun!
