Choosing the right Mahindra dealer.

/ Choosing the right Mahindra dealer. #21
All I'll say is that if there is another dealer in the area, I would give them a try before going to that one. It's not just the one friend who bought his tractor there, I have another friend who had some financial dealings with them that went bad. I wont go into details because I'm not going to name names, but it's not who I will do business with.

But if I buy a Mahindra, I'm probably going to buy used, pre Tier 4. J & K Sales, Ltd has some great prices and they get new stuff all of the time. They sell hundreds of tractors at the auction, but some get listed on their website that for whatever reason, either don't sell at auction, or are just for sale on their website. I've been there a few times and it's amazing to see all the different brands and models there. You can really compare quality and fit there all at once. In an hour, I bet I sat in and started up at least a dozen different cabbed tractors there.

But how are their service and parts departments? I think choosing the right dealer is as important as the tractor itself if not more so. No tractor is going to do you much good or get any work done if it isn't running.

For years, I said the same thing. Parts and service department where all that mattered, Brand was secondary. But with so much available online, and doing all my own repairs, I'm not so sure that's the main reason to choose a dealer anymore. I'm getting Wix filters from Amazon a lot cheaper then the auto parts stores, and they where cheaper then the dealer. I bought an replacement metal hydraulic tank from a dealer online that had them in stock to replace my plastic one that came on my tractor, when my local dealer fist said they didn't exist, then said it would take a few weeks to get one, and then came in a lot higher then the price listed online at the other dealer.

Here's what I'm day dreaming about buying J & K Sales, Ltd Price is fantastic, especially with so few hours on it!!!!

I guess if you're not concerned with warranty work or service then the dealer doesn't matter anymore and it boils down to price as long as you get what you pay for.

model of the tractor it is will not reflect the year it was made... if your tractor was bought in 14 its going to show 2014... but doesn't mean it was built in 14... Vin# will show when the tractor was built lol.... They don't print specific year models on the tractors either way its just posted as what year it was purchased... I doubt you get very far with the complaint

So, when the dealer pulls out the "blue book" to get a value for your tractor, does he use the year you bought it or the year of manufacture? The book is broken down by year, and the difference between a 2012 4025 and a 2014 4025 is about $2100 msrp, so it seems the trade in value would reflect the difference in starting prices.
