Has anyone chromed the exhaust pipe on their tractor? I am thinking about taking my JD 990's vertical exhaust into a hot rod shop or bike shop to get it chromed. A while back we took in this JD 4440 with duals and it had a sweet chrome vertical exhaust. Looked and sounded cool. Any thoughts?

For show it does look sharp /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif but on a sunny day when useing tractor you may need sunglasses..reflection. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I think that it will look great, but you will no long be able to hide in the tall grass with it. You will be found when you don't want to be.

a good idea. Especially, if you coat inside walls, the tractor performance will increase a little due to increased smoothness inside the exhaust pipe walls.

Yes! Chrome pipes and baby moon hubcaps. That will make it a real looker.... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hi...

Wondering if there is there a source for a new chrome pipe ?

Even one that fits over the original...

Might be less $$$ than chrome plating...

How about polished stainless steel ?

I would think polished stainless would be a better choice, I don't think it "blues" as easily from the engine heat as chrome does. Also no rust worries with S.S.

You maybe lucky enough to match chrome exhaust pipe from parts vendor for motorcycles..Samson,Hines,Extile,Shotgun Sam's,Jesse James etc..than there always the customs. $$'s /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Check your local scrap yards. You might find a piece of stainless that will polish up real nice. Most of those boys sell scrap by the pound so its relatively cheap to the end user like yourself. That's how I buy my iron for most of my projects, you will pay pennies on the dollar.

Let us know how it turns out. I have been thinking about putting my old Harley chromed tips on the tractors, one on the Kubota and the other on the Farmall /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Do it right! Take the rims to the chrome shop too! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I'm still thinking about it since I gotta do some work to my car first but there are a lot of places here in MN for hot rodders to take there cars to so I should be able to find some one to do it for me. I think having the rims chromed would cost a ton but on the garden tractor club on yahoo some guy is doing the rims and brush guard on his JD X series garden tractor.

Yeah, like that would look good. No, he needs those new low profile rims and tires to get the "lowered" look. Neon lights underneath, spoiler, and a good stereo with plenty of BASS.

Can anyone CAD this project out for the young man? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yeah, there ya go. Since it's a Asian tractor you can put the can exhaust on. Oh, wait a minute my Deere is too! You wanna race sometime? I'm gonna get a racing clutch, turbo, intake, and a spoiler on the roll bar. Might even drive it to school and show my friends up.

Ok guys somebody forgot about the hood scoop with cold air induction for B&M blower you know a 671 blower.

Got to get the fake hood scoop. I'll have to wear my
bling bling (what ever that is). Do you think I can get
those rims that keep spinning when you stop for my tractor? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

My wife is wonderin' if the wives of some of you posters haven't got a list of chores that need to be done. She's also figurin' that if there's enough time for all this, that the Christmas shoppin' must be all finished!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
