Just joined yesterday and was wondering if anyone else here smokes cigars. They are one of my "excesses" which will suffer with the tractor acquisition I suppose. My favorites tend to be full bodied, but I like some of all strengths for variety.

All Fuentes, esp. the Don Carlos line, Padrons, HDM Excaliburs, and the occaisional Cuban (if a friend comes through) are the ones I like the most. I don't smoke them when I am working mostly because I never liked clenching them in my teeth when I had to use both hands.

How about you? What do you like? Smoke while driving the tractor? Got a favorite "working" cigar and a favorite after dinner, on the porch cigar?

Can I guess by your choice of username, that your wife does not share your love of cigars? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Actually she does, just not in the house. She even has a few small ones that are just for her in the humidor. The house we are going to start building soon will have a room with proper ventilation for smoking so I can get a new alias.

Yep..not very often..I reward myself w/a good cigar..$7.oo one.

I don't smoke it in the house do to my better half dislike for them, but when plowing snow, fel work,go for a ride on the tractor I kinda have one handy /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I've notice they don't keep the blackflies away. /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif

You got to get one of those big 50c ones. They will keep the bugs away.[and other people also/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif]

I love a good cigar!!!..however, when I am running my tractor I smoke the cheap Swisher Sweets with the wooden tips. That way, I don't have to clench them in my teeth and end up gnawin' the end all to mush. When I am just relaxing and roamin' the property, I love a good imported cigar. Never smoke in the house tho. My wife is a closet cigarette smoker. She likes to think the girls don't know she smokes once in a while so she sneaks out doors and does it behind their back. Like they don't know!!..Ha ha ha

Actually I think they help keep the mosquitos away but nothing seems to drive flys away that I have found.

She is kidding herself if she thinks the kids don't know she smokes. Anyone who doesn't smoke can tell when a smoker gets close to them..that's why so many of us got caught as kids, right?

I may have to master the clenching bit if the alternative is Swishers or Hav-A-Tampa Jewels. Maybe I should get one of those cigar holders I have seen for golf carts and put it on the tractor for those moments I have to have both hands on the wheel.

All the time. Gotta have a small Garcia y Vega or Macanudo when in the seat, and a Cohiba or a Montecristo (not Dominican Republic but shipped via the Cayman Islands) in the evening. The smell of diesel and cigar compliment each other like a snifter of good brandy does.

A G&V and a Mac cover pretty much the whole price spectrum of cigars I would say. I really wish the Macs were cheaper because I actually like them but just can't cost justify them. Well made though.. I'll give them that.

What has yur experience withthe Montes been? I seem to have encountered a lot of rolling problems with them (read this "plugs") over the last year or so. More so than other Cubans which all seem to be suffering to some degree from ramping up on the production. But a good one is nothing short of great, esp. after a good meal and combined with your choice of drinks.

Cohibas, while worthy of being their flagship line, are just too darn expensive. I have been able to get other brands at 1/3 to 1/2 the cost (like Partagas and Punch) and be quite happy.

After I part with the money for a tractor I will be looking for something even cheaper I suppose. Or at least smoking them less frequently.

Don't you do it Gsmoker!. Life is too short to be down grading your cigars. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif If you are going to puff away, at least make it worth it. For my nickle, I prefer an Ashton, preferably with a glass of port, comfortably seated with the dog and wife by the fireplace (outside). 2nd choice is the same cigar while walking the dog with me wif of an evening.
I try to limit myself to two cigars a week, but the more I enjoy em, the more I want em. I would advise cutting back before cutting down your quality.
