Next on the menu is home donuts, in my are it's a lost art. 50 years ago mother use to make them and every town had a in house donut making baking donut shop, now the main stream donut shop is DD. There's nothing like a warm fresh out of the healthy fat free low cholesterol lard good for your health donut.

When my aunt made a batch, she did HUGE ones. They actually freeze quite well.

Yes good stuff. Grandmother only used lard and homemade butter with fresh killed chickens fried in LARD! She only lived to 99. Yes that lard is bad for you but it took 99+ years to kill her.

I'm gonna try that recipe posted above. That one said to use brown sugar in the filling instead of plain old white sugar which would violate any recipe I have ever seen!

I think lard has found it's way to the "never mind" list of bad things along with eggs and butter.

Actually, it's probably better for you than the stuff that's on the store self's snacks of today, things that only a scientist can pronounce......

Just found this thread. Cinnamon roll threads should be outlawed on a tractor forum. Especially with this no carb thingy I'm trying. And especially when you use a hot rod mixer to do it.

You are probably right. I still shake my head at eggs and butter and how they scared people for years only later to say "never mind". It's that type of stuff that leads people to not trust science.
