I volunteer about 6 hours a week. You don't need to belong to an organization to volunteer. Too many times your hands are tied or things get political and people leave with hard feelings. My ex and I were on our local volunteer ambulance corps. She is an emt. Things got political and we stayed out of it but they dragged us in so we left. I know this is not always the case but it happens. Good luck.

I joined the Kiwanis. I went to a meeting and really enjoyed it. I will also be getting involved with the local 4-H in a couple of years. My oldest is 5 and I think she has to be 7 to join. .

Some areas have Cloverbud meetings for the younger kids. Here you have to be a 3rd grader and be 9 I think to be a part of the regular 4H.

I am a big supporter of Scouting. My son is in Scouts. It has been a great experience. I have friends with girls in the Girl Scout program. I think both programs are great.

I know we can always use more merit badge counselors.
