CK-35 Arrived!

Another poster here agreeing with Dave. Some of my most memorable times with my dad and granddad were them picking me up in the FEL of one of the tractors and driving me around the farm in it... VERY SLOWLY... (about age 7)yes, this probably isn't a great idea but you do have to live a little.

Guilty, last month, Daughter, loader bucket, joy ride (crawl). She had a blast. I've been one to preach and then in practice, looking back, took some chances.

But then my dad had me driving solo at age 14, he's from Northern Maine (Fort Kent), he was driving trucks on the farm at a super early age.

Would've been an interesting conversation with the Reading Ma. police, when they tried the, "we'll need to speak with your father line" and I would've come back with something like, "Thank you officer, I wasn't so sure this was a good idea in the first place".

Anyway, I guess the key is being involved with your kids. Like him, I try to be as involved as my work hours will permit, don't see her much during the week, but try hard to spend time with her during the weekends. And she likes being outside with me, who knows, we maybe digging and dozing next to each other one day.

LOL, guilty here too, only it was the dogs. They weren't too sure about sitting in equipment at first but then had a ball. Molly here got real comfortable.

Dog, guilty here, but necessary. Dog was struck by snow plow, broken left rear leg, seriously brused left front leg, needed to get dog outside for nature call. Carrying 80lb injured dog down flight of stairs not possible. Sooo... put dog in crate, slid crate out onto deck. Slid crate into bucket, tied crate to bucket, lower bucket, let dog out to do what she had to. Dog back in crate, lift with bucket back up to deck, slid back into house.. happy dog, no mess in house... happy owner. :) Did that for almost 2 weeks until she could put enough weight on leg to help get herself up and down stairs in a sling.

I was going to try that the other day, but Cinder wouldn't get in the bucket.

Kids & adults alike got in the bucket to pick apples/pears/cherries. We always considered it a great idea, whole lot easier than toting a ladder around. As far as I can remember, noone ever even got a hang-nail as a result. And, strangely enough, we realized that you shouldn't stand under the bucket when it's coming down and the old tractors didn't even have a "universal illustration" sticker showing a stick figure getting crushed! Go figure???

Congratulations, Welcome to the PACK!! Have fun, be safe.
Who made the tooth bar? I am still looking for one for my CK30, presently leaning towards the Markham. The Long bar is a nice one.. but almost $100.00 more from the prices I have been quoted locally.

IXLR8 - I finally found out what brand of toothbar they put on my tractor... Tisco brand. I've never heard of 'em but when I called the dealer & asked what brand it was he said they were a very good one (but I doubt he'd have told me he sold me a cheap piece of junk!).

Seems to work great so far. I'd sure recommend a toothbar. I've used tooth and smooth buckets on skid steers and for general digging and rough grading a toothed bucket can't be beat. One of my favorite uses for a tooth bar is straight down and backup with the tractor using it like a huge rake, works better than a flat bucket 'cause it doesn't remove your dirt and pile it all up behind the bucket (just limbs, rocks & junk). A lot quicker for me to level ground with.
