Kioti CK4010SE-HST
I hit the free trailer rental quota at Tractor Supply, so with my SUV, a good day to pick up a 1 ton bag of 3/4 gravel. Trouble was, my CK4010SE FEL is rated for 1835lbs "at the pins". Would I even be able to unload it? That big bag of palletized gravel might weigh in at 2000lbs, but then add the pallet and Titan QA forks, and we're at 2250lbs, a full 25% over the rated lift capacity of a CK10. This could end up looking foolish.

Back home, with filled rear tires and about 800lbs of 3pt ballast box, I rode up the gang planks and snugged up the pallet. Throttle full up, feather, and I swear that pallet's hovering to clear the belly of an ant. Slowly maneuvering it off and down the trailer was more of a "skootch" than a carry, but down it came.

Once on the gravel driveway, things got a bit less elegant. Starting to bite ground and cut ruts. Made it to the side and let it settle. Success.

This tractor continues to impress.

problem is...thats a great way to destroy front seals and bearings. carrying more than the rated load on my DK45 caused me to eat a bearing that took out the outer housing. i rebuilt the axle myself, but it cost me nearly a grand in parts. labor was easy....getting parts sucked.

Then I'll consider this a bullet dodged. Thanks for the backstory.

What a drawbar is there for.
Please explain. I moved the pallet, not the trailer.

Your 1835# CAPACITY at the pins is probably to MAX height. Due to the geometry of how a loader works, the angle of the cylinder in relation to the boom lessens the higher it is raised. Therefore a loader has greatest capacity at its lowest point, and the least capacity at max height.

So, your 1835# capacity at the pins is probably closer to or in excess of 3000# at the ground level (look at breakout force spec).

Also worth noting that the capacities listed arent "ratings". They are calculated capacities based on the cylinder sizes, geometry, and PSI. Nothing more, Nothing less. So there is no such thing as "exceeding" its ratings. Its hydraulics at a given PSI, it will either lift or it wont period.

Now whether or not you exceeded the front axles rating is subject of question. Most dont even list a front axle rating. And there are far too many variables to determine off-cuff on the fly.

Glad your tractor continues to impress you. They all make quite capable and impressive machines especially when compared to tractors of past, with slow weak skeleton frame loaders and mechanical trip buckets and now down pressure.

Nice! Good to hear real-world results of the 4010 loader.

Note: I would not make a habit of doing this kind of extreme lifting, it'll bite you eventually.

I've never bought gravel in a sack... but the weight of 21A can vary wildly with moisture content, % of fines in the mix (density), and how precisely it is loaded for you at the yard. A dump trailer is a nice way to go for homeowner gravel purchases.

As does the experience and advise of the folks here.

Lately, ive been having a local contractor dump a 10 yard load of gravel out back, and i just grab some as needed over time. Also a load of sand. I have a dump trailer, but it just doesnt hold enough.

horse pens and driveway take alot of maintenance.

I get my off grade seed corn in 2000 pound supersacks which I have to haul about a mile from the seed house to my barn and it's a slow trip because I'm always aware of the load placed on the front axles. Never had a front axle failure and don't want one. I did have to replace the bushings on the left side because they were worn out on my 6K plus hour unit but everything else was serviceable.

I do change the front axle lubricant every spring (and check it for 'glitter') as well and I use 85-140 gear oil, not hydraulic oil.

So far, so good.
