Well I thought I selected the tractor that I wanted until someone recommended that I looked at Kioti. After looking at the different models I have decided that the CK20HST and CK25HST would be the best models for me as I will be using it for FEL work(rocks, dirt, mulch, etc.) and possibly backhoe work(planting, stumps, etc) on about 3 acres of lawn and some woods. On that note, what can one expect to pay for the CK20HST with FEL, with FEL and backhoe; and what about the CK25HST with FEL, with FEL and backhoe? Also, do users of these machines like them, any problems or reasons why not to get them. I haven't decided yet but figured I should look at them. Additionally, if I were to get one of these machines which one would be the better choice.
Thanks

I'm in my third year of ownership of the CK20HST with loader, backhoe, boxblade and on and on.

I love this tractor. It has outperformed by a long shot what I thought it would be able to do. I have surprised many with it's ability.

That said, if the CK25 and CK30 had been out when I bought mine, I probably would have gone with one of those simply for the larger frame and extra niceties like the telescoping hitch arms and stabilizers, and the extra weight.

I have had no warranty issues on my tractor or loader, with the exception of one broken handle on the ROPS tightening bolt, replaced the next day by the dealer.

I've used the other two a good bit also, and they really are nice, and they work hard and are comfortable also.

Price wise, I'm not sure. What I paid isn't relevant any longer as there have been a few price increases. I paid $16,681 + tax for the TLB and a box blade in Jan. 2004. About 400 hours later, I'm still loving it.

Like KiotiJohn, I also have the CK20 HST TLB and I also love it. Unlike John, I don't yearn for the CK25 or 30. Those are both fine tractors but for FEL work and BH work on 3 acres they don't add much except size. John dreams about a CK25 but I dream only of a DK45S, and anything smaller just isn't enough of an upgrade in capability for the type of work you are doing in my opinion. (And the DK45S is way too much tractor for 3 acres). Check out the lift capacity rating for the KL120 vs KL130 loaders. Not much difference really. You can get a bigger backhoe for the CK25/30 but unless the extra reach is important to you the work capacity is again only slightly greater on the bigger hoes. As John hasn't mentioned it in his post, I will reiterate that folks have been looking closely at the new Woods 70X backhoe (or 80X if you go for the 25/30) as having some advantages (reach, subframe size, possible factory thumb option) over the otherwise perfectly acceptable Kioti hoe (which I have and am happy with).

I believe the price difference between the CK20 TLB and the CK25 TLB is close to $2000. That can buy several very nice implements to help you get your work done. I don't know where you are located but their is an almost new CK20 TLB with the Woods hoe on ebay right now in Connecticut...a landscaper going out of business. Give it a look.

As you can see I am a bit biased but mostly because I just don't see what the CK25/30 can do for FEL/BH work that the CK20 cannot do almost as quickly. The CK20 will take less space to store and is lighter so will tread more softly on your turf. Unless you are trying to drag serious dirt, a 21hp tractor on 3 acres is just fine. However, if the discussion was for ground engaging operations I would hush up and crawl back into my hole where I'd continue to dream of a big beautiful DK45S with cab, A/C and iPod /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

Let's not put words in John's post /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif by saying I dream of the CK25/30. What I said was that I probablly would have gone to one of the bigger models had they been available for the extra weight and niceties, and my primary property is 2 acres, but I do work my other property also.

The extra weight of the 25/30s would be just right for when I'm making up beds for the garden as the discs pull the CK20 a little off a straight line no matter what I do, but that's really about the only time I need the extra weight.

If the DK35 had come in HST, I would have gone with one of those when I bought because I wanted HST.

As you infer, the Woods backhoes are probably an upgrade. They allow a little better clearance, the 4pt. hookup is a little sturdier, seemingly, but I do fine with my KB2365.

The CK20 will do all of what the poster wants to do with ease, but after having used the 25/30s, I would like to have had at least that much tractor for my disk bedder.

What I dream of, is also the DK45S, HST though, but as you said, too big for the property!

To do that, click on My Home at the top of the page, then click on personal settings to fill out your profile. It really helps at times to have the information as those closest to you may be able to give you local info.

There was about $3k difference for me between the 20 and 25HST when I bought mine last week, however, I'm sure the difference varies by dealer/region...

I purchased the 25HST w/ FEL, Kioti BH, BB and I've been using it on my 5 acre lot with lots of dirt excavation and dirt moving so far. I've been impressed with how well the FEL works without a toothbar. I looked at both Kubota and JD and feel you can't better value for your money than the Kioti unless your primary task is to mow...

I'm researching to purchase a Sub or Compact Tractor. I spoke today with a Kioti dealer regarding CK20 HST or CK25 HST. He suggest the CK25 HST may appear / be underpowered based on power loss to run HST. Says most of CK25's he sells are Gear with Shuttle shift and that configuration comes in only a few hundred $$ more than CK20 HST. Based on quick demo the Shuttle Shift seemed interesting. Any feedback on this option?

Another example of a dealer who is apparently trying to sell what he owes the most on to me. The CK25 and CK30 both use the same pressure relief valve settings which are higher than those for the CK20HST, and they are not underpowered at all.

It is true that with shuttle shift, if the tractor gets to a spot where it can't pull anymore, the tires will simply spin, or you'll drag/lug the engine down. You lose a little bit of the HP at the PTO with HST, but it's never caused me any problems with mowing or tilling (PTO attachments) so I don't think that's a great deal.

A shuttle CK25 is a great configuration and you can quickly get used to using the shuttle, but I find the HST a better option for my uses. I like getting up very close to things, and HST is much more controllable in that situation, and therefore safer in my opinion.

Does this dealer even have a HST model on the lot? His floorplan is probably running out on the shuttle models so he's pushing that, but they're still a good option, and do sell for less than the HST models.
John
EDIT: I have used both the CK25 and the CK30 in HST models and find the HST quite adequate. J
